Learning About Manufacturing
DEPCO's Manufacturing Processes Lab is a project-based modern manufacturing technology lab that gives students real-world experience by emphasizing safety, hands-on learning, and teaching organizational skills. Step-by-step project guides give students all of the information they need to successfully complete each project.

Level One is designed for grades 7th thru 9th and Level Two is specifically for grades 8th thru 10th.

Lesson Plans: 9-week, 12-week, semester, and one year lesson plans are available.

Projects can be purchased in a lab package with or without optional equipment and furniture, or they can be purchased separately and used in a classroom as an additional lesson!

Classroom Management: ScanTRACK
A product exclusively designed and developed by DEPCO, ScanTRACK is a highly intuitive, integrated inventory and classroom management system created solely for a Manufacturing Processes Lab.

ScanTRACK reduces the complications of tracking inventory by using Bar Code Scanning and Touch Screen input. And, ScanTRACK is so user friendly, instructors can start immediately.

Students use their project guides and the ScanTRACK ID System to identify and track the supplies and tools, which are needed to complete each project. This ID System uses labels with the name, number, and bar code for each item. This helps the student to locate their materials, tools, and fixtures, and it helps the instructor to track inventory.

ScanTRACK also takes care of all administrative tasks — student assessment, project evaluations, grading, and reports — so instructors can spend their time on what counts most . . . the students.

ScanTRACK in the Classroom
Here is an example of how ScanTRACK works in the classroom:
• Two students at the beginning of each week are chosen to manage the consumables and supplies, in addition to working on their assigned projects.
• One student is responsible for running the ScanTRACK software and the other gathers the supplies needed for each student.
• The student that is running the ScanTRACK software, scans the bar codes for each item, and the items are then deducted from the general inventory.
• It is also possible to have the students scan in the tools and fixtures they use, so they may be tracked as well. This step is optional and can be used at the instructor's discretion.
• The scanned data is also stored individually for each student and their specific project.
• Before starting the projects, the instructor prints out the student grade sheets.
• The grading sheet lists all the consumables and supplies, and the various processes the student uses to complete his or her project.
• When completed, the student turns the gradesheet and project into the instructor for grading.
• The instructor then grades the project based on how well each process was completed. All projects are graded with a skills-based, point assessment scale.
• These grades are scanned and are compiled in the ScanTRACK computer gradebook.
• The instructor can print out a variety of reports using this compiled information at any time.
